Well... I'm all packed and ready to go to Costa Rica! I still do not even know exactly which beach I will be stationed, but I know where ever I go, I will be hitching a ride on the public bus system! So I will only be bringing a backpack. I'm only bringing a few pairs of pants, a few shirts and some backpackers laudry detergent! I won't have my phone or access to Facebook all the time (there might be some access to wifi here and there to check email), but I will be living the simple life for a few weeks. I couldn't be more excited! I almost forgot to pack my PADI dive card! But it is packed, along with my dive log, fins, mask, and snorkel! I am hoping that during my free time, I will be in a cool spot to just slip on my fins and go snorkeling in the area, or possibly even be near a credible dive shop where I could borrow some gear to go out with a buddy (hopefully I can find a buddy!). I bought a new waterproof camera to take beneath the surface and capture the life unseen by the average American.
I can't thank my parents enough for preparing me for this trip. Without my parents installing a sense of adventure in me starting at a young age, I never would have the courage to go off on my own and explore the world at my age. Especially so young and on my own! My mom also paid for my open water scuba certification as a very early Christmas present, which is a Christmas present that will bring me joy as long as I am breathing (especially under the water!). Though if it wasn't for my dad's crazy stories of being attacked by a scary sea lion (what a drama king...), I would never have had the courage to try actually taking a breath under water in the first place. So, thanks Mom and Dad!
