I was finally able to get Dry-Suit Certified! We went up to mile marker 34 in Juneau to Sunshine Cove for the day to try out the suit. I was basically wearing a snow suit under the actual suit itself, but it did it's job of keeping me warm in the freezing waters of Alaska in the winter! We did two dives, each with a slightly different path. Under the water was so amazing! I had never seen a sea pen, but just a few meters under the surface, there was what looked like a spaced out corn field full of them! For those of you who don't know what a sea pen is, the orange thing in the bottom photo is a sea pen. During my second dive, the instructor started to violently point at me. I realized that he wasn't actually pointing at me, but something behind me. When I turned around, something shot past me like a fish. But it wasn't a fish! It was a sea lion! It was about four feet in length and moved through the water with grace. Now that I am certified to dive with a dry suit, I hope new diving adventures like this one are in store for me with friends here in Alaska!
